Dear Colleagues and Guests,
On behalf of the Congress Directors and the Local Organising Committee (LOC), we would like to cordially invite you to the 4th World Congress of Asian Psychiatry (WCAP) to be held in Bangkok, Thailand between 20th – 23rd August, 2013.
The WCAP is the official congress of the Asian Federation of Psychiatric Associations (AFPA) and it is held every two years. This time the AFPA Board Executive committee decided to choose Bangkok as the venue for the 4th WCAP.
Host organizations in Thailand include the Department of Mental Health (DMH) of the Ministry of Public Health, Psychiatric Association of Thailand (PAT), and Thai Society for Geriatric Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry (TSGN).
We hope this Congress will give you a clear picture of what will happen in the field of psychiatry and mental health in the near future, especially toward the upcoming classification of mental disorders in both the ICD - 11 and DSM-5, and offer a rewarding opportunity to discuss psychiatry and mental health in Asia.
Also, we strongly believe that the Congress will enhance existing friendships or establish new relationships among professionals and multidisciplinary colleagues and eventually increase collaboration for the betterment of mental health in Asia, a major theme of this Congress.
Bangkok, and Thailand in general, has a very old and rich cultural heritage, yet it is a dynamic and thriving country in which historical elements are freely mixed with modern developments. Therefore, aside from the scientific sessions, we hope the social programme and available arranged tours will give all participants pleasurable and memorable experiences of the Congress.
So, please come and enjoy all the activities and sessions in the unique “City of Angels (Krungthep)” and we look forward to seeing all of you at the 4th WCAP in Bangkok in 2013.
